So I have to be honest, I have not been paying that much attention to the coverage of the earthquake in Haiti. Lately I have just been focused on the business and getting ready for 2010. I have been trying to figure out which workshops I wanted to do with some of my favorite photographers at WPPI. I have been waiting and saving to do a workshop with one of the best wedding photographers- Mike Colon. I have been so self involved with trying to get the money together for these things I have been ignoring the destruction and pain that people are going through. So last night I stayed up late watching Anderson Cooper’s coverage of the disaster. It was heartbreaking watching the people and to see what they are going through. It is amazing that they are still pulling out survivors from the rubble. It also amazing seeing how many countries have come together to help. After seeing the coverage I felt embarrassed. Here I am worried about luxuries and all these people out there need essential items like water and food. So with this post, (partly being inspired by a fellow photographer http://www.kellyleephotography.com/) I am going to donate $1 for every comment. Please pass this on.

I think this is a great idea! I’ve donated to the Red Cross like many others via text. I think it’s important to help. God gave us compassion for a reason. We all need to use it in times like these. Thanks Clark!
That is great! I too am consumed in th everyday things of my life and have not taken the time to look at what is desperately needed. Thank you for the wake up call!!
Good thinking Clark. You have a big heart and believe me…I am not going to miss out on commenting on a any post from now on. We can all do something to help out.

Well put Clark. Thank you for this.
We have a friend who works with an orphange down there, if you’d like to donate to them I can get the information. We are pretty fat cats and obese when it comes to seeing those images…if you haven’t been to a 3rd world country I have contacts if you’d like to go down and take pics…
Sometimes we do need to be shaken to see what is real about our lives, God bless you Son,

I think we all feel the same way, but you are acting on those feelings. Thank you for caring!
We all need to do something for our fellow man.
Well said Clark. I too have been too much like you were…worried about that next piece of gear or the next starbucks in the morning.
Very humbling indeed.
Great idea, Clark. I, too, have not watched much coverage of this disaster (or any news for that matter). But, the little coverage I have seen is unthinkable.
Good idea, Clark. Great message!
Very true, Clark. I think we can all take a second and step back. It’s so easy to keep it out of sight, out of mind. But is that humane?? Thanks for the insighful post, sure has caught me needing to be more accountable.
Thank you so much for doing this, Clark! What a great idea! It’s been such a pleasure getting to know you! You’re TRULY so talented!!!!
Thank you Clark!
You take beautiful pictures of my son, Matt, and his family and I thank you for that. I donated to Red Cross on their website. They need all they can get. What a wonderful idea on your part! You will be blessed for your generosity.
Clark, do you know Kelly? I went to high school with her! She was one of my really good friends.
I hope you don’t run out of money but glad to see your hearts in the right place. Good luck cousin!!!
